Introduction
We were given the case details and pieces of evidence and we had to find the murderer. Using forensic science, we analyzed a hair sample, blood, a note reading "You are a dead man", both fingerprinting and DNA fingerprinting. See the presentation below for the techniques we used to determine the murderer.
Concepts
DNA Fingerprinting - a laboratory technique used to establish a link between biological evidence and a suspect in a criminal investigation.
Chromatography - the separation of a mixture by passing it in solution through a medium in which the components move at different rates.
Pedigree - the record of descent of an animal
Karyotypes - the number and visual appearance of the chromosomes in the cell nuclei of an organism or species.
Genotype - the genetic constitution of an individual organism.
Phenotype - the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.

Reflection
This project was one of the better ones we have done so far. We got the evidence and had to use it to determine everything needed to obtain a warrant for arrest. I like the freedom of exploring the evidence and coming to our own conclusions of motive and the murderer. I didn't like the presentation process so much. The judges were more of a distraction then a benefit. My group all help in creating our 25 slide presentation. It was a good group with equal contributions. I personally think it was the best project we have done so far.
